It's a wonderful kayak for a family of three or more. With the rudder it is very easy to maneuver. Adjusts so that it can easily be used by one person.

Field & Stream Eagle Run 12' Kayak
Great single kayak. It was a great buy at Dick's Sporting Goods. I use it for solo trips. It has to fishing pole holders in the rear with a water tight compartment right behind it.
Yakima Mako Saddles & Showboat 66 Load Assist
With time I realized that there has to be a easier and quicker way to load my kayaks on our car. After some research, I was convinced that the Mako saddles by Yakima were worth trying. They are very easy to mount on the bars but it does take a few minutes at the beginning of the season. I have actually marked the bars for the exact location of each saddle so that I don't spend time aligning them once mounted. They are made of malleable plastic with a rubber center. As soon as the straps are tightened the rubber prevents the kayak from sliding forward or backward. I still secure the front and rear of the kayak to the bumper for better stabilization when traveling on the highway.
Most of the time I don't have an extra hand to load the kayaks onto the car. I once saw this load assist mounted to an SUV while on the highway and decided to research it out as well. The bails are mounted to the cross bars. The poles than slide into the bails and can be adjusted for kayak size or multiple boats. The roller on the back has a soft rubber padding that protects the boat from scratches. After loading the boat on to the vehicle the load assist can then be slide further onto the vehicle if desired. It really cut down on my loading time by more than 50%.
